Touchdown to trouble

Well, we FINALLY made it to Sask. yesterday after no amount of trouble once we landed in Calgary.  We landed in a snowstorm and then headed off to customs and breezed on through, and made it to our gate.  Ok, all is going well, they put us all on the plane and we sit there for awhile and finally the capitan comes on and tells us we are waiting on a break in the snow so we’ll have to deplane and take all our carry on baggage w/ us…it’ll be about an hour.  So…twenty minutes later we are reboarding, and since it is a small airplane they asked us if we had the rolling carryon’s to store them on the walkway before we got on the plane and the ground crew would put it under the plane for us.  So we wait…and wait…and wait…I guess the ground crew had to make it back around the entire Calgary airport before they could come and stow our few things.  Two hours and thirty minutes later, we are off on our 45 minute flight.  Grrr….anyway, then we had a two hour drive on to Dylan and Janaya’s and the snow storm had pretty much caught up to us by then.  Don’t even tell me how beautiful it is at home…I don’t wanna hear it!

Muscle Mania

Chalk one up to the muscle car. 

Driving home yesterday afternoon I spied a classic car a few cars ahead of me.  Always interested in a classic, I sped up alittle to see it…a beautiful perfectly restored 56 Vette (so said the license plate).   Since I slowed down to admire it, I glanced up and looked in my rearview mirror only to have the white racing stripes on a blue brand new ford mustang staring in my face.  I speed up and got over and the horsey sped on by only to be stopped a mile up by a stop light.  The very wise driver of the vintage car spies an opportunity!!!  The Vette driver passes me and gets infront of me so then the new horsey and old vette are side by side at a red light!!!  3…2…1…Green and OFF  they go…yeah, you guessed it, the new horsey got smoked by a 60 year old car.  (and would have been smoked handily if the driver could have gotten his shifting and steering together).

Two hours of peace

Yesterday my dear mommy called from my Nana’s house, “Julie, why don’t you bring Peyton over to Nana’s so we can see him.”  My response?  I’ll be there as soon as I can.   I think Peyton and I had been spending too much time together because we were both sick of each other!!!  I couldn’t do anything right for him and he couldn’t please me.  So, off to Nana’s I went and deposited Peyton to my mom’s care.  I went and hit up Target, some shopping at the mall, and the bank….well, I deposited at the bank, didn’t hit it up…anyway… it was a blissfully peaceful two hours.  When it was all said and done and I went back to Nana’s, Peyton and I were both happy to see each other again.  Thanks Mom!

I cannot believe it is already Thursday, this week has truly sped by!!!  Our weekend plans??? We are going up to Tulsa Saturday morning and will make a day of it there.  We’ll be with Dave, Moni and their family and will meet up with the Willhoite clan at a hotel for some swimming fun.  Then off to Catoosa spec mtg on Sunday. 

disturbing….

Does anyone else find the shelf life or the smell of tortillas disturbing???  Jared was pointing out that tortillas smell to him, like dirty socks.  Uhh, anyway…can’t say that I ever related the smell to socks, but they do smell strange!   My issue w/ tortillas is the length of time you can keep them around and they stay the same…depending on how long, the only thing that happens, is they just get alittle drier.  I wonder how long the ones we had for supper tonight have been in our fridge???  Don’t worry, if you come over for supper, I will buy fresh ones.

The good w/ the bad…

I love early spring and warm weather, my pretty trees blooming, and flowers in the front flower bed.  You can smell my pretty trees (twigs) the moment you walk out the front door.  I love the sound of the distant thunder rumbling far away as you fall asleep…then spring out of bed at moch 10 when the tornado sirens start wailing and the highway intersection 5 miles from your house is mentioned as where there is a funnel cloud about to touch down and become a tornado.  Makes for peaceful sleeping conditions…ummm….or not.

A Lemming…

In the spirit of jumping off the cliff and for my second post of the day…

1.Maybe I should…take a tylenol for my headache

2. I like the smell of…freshly mowed grass.

3.People say that I’m…usually pretty happy.

4.I don’t understand…any math above basic math.

5.When I wake up in the morning…I go and get Peyton out of his crib.

6.I lost…my privacy in the bathroom when I became a mother.

7.Life is full of…moments waiting to happen.

8.My past…I forgot.

9.I get annoyed when…people are LATE.  (actually, i get more than annoyed.)

10.Parties are…fun fun fun and usually hard work.

11.I wish…I could go on a shopping spree w/ no regard to money.

12.Dogs…are better in someone elses backyard.

13.Cats…are nice and low maintenence.

14.Tomorrow…is one day closer to our camping weekend in the SE part of the state.

15.I have low tolerance for…loosing things.  I flip out.

16.I’m totally terrified…of tornados.

17.I wonder…about my biological family.

18.Never in my life have I…skied, water or snow.

19.High school was…really fun and carefree.

20.When I’m nervous I…tune everyone else out.

21.One time at a family gathering I…see number 8.  I don’t remember anything.  OH wait, I just remembered…I laughed so hard pop came out my nose at Les and Mary’s wedding in Cali.

22.Take my advice…don’t laugh w/ pop in your mouth…that hurt.  Part two take my advice, if there is a toddler in the house, leave the toilet lid down.

23.Making my bed…is a 5/7 day happening.

24.I’m almost always…early???  Smiling????

25.I’m addicted to…coffee.

26.I want someone to…babysit for awhile.
