long time a comin…

Posted in Life in General on October 23, 2007 by juliepetersen

So sorry to my (few) readers for the long delay.  After my bout w/ strep, a busy wonderful convention, it is home again just to start the laundry mountain on my floor.    Forgive my absence!  (which will start again tomorrow…till the following week as we are off to Perry Conv.)

See you next week…I’m off to make cookies!

Poor, Pitiful, me…

If you don’t want to “hear” me complain, do not read the top, skip to the “positive note” section of today’s blog!

Strep throat, is totally lame.

Fever’s, (102.5) are totally lame.

Sore gums and teeth from clenching them everytime I swallow, are totally lame.

Missing meeting because I’m sick, is totally lame

Being sick and being a mom, is totally lame.

ON A POSITIVE NOTE:

What awesome friends and family I have.  Yesterday my Nana kept Peyt while I went to the Dr., then when I got home my dear neighbor, Amy and her little boy Max, took Peyton for 2 hours so I could sleep.  Then~Peyton and I hung out for about an hour and my mom came for the whole evening.  (of all nights for jared to NOT get home, eh???)  THEN!!!!!!!!!!!! Today, Monica called and said she is bringing me lunch and is going to help me clean my pigsty, I mean house, bc I am getting company today!  I’ve said it before and I truly mean it, “where would I be without my friends?”

Freckles…

No, this isn’t a blog about the very appropriately named dalmation the Spinner’s used to have, but the brown spots that dominate my face.

It is so funny that something that is so differnt to so many people is so ordinary to me.  Probably the first time that I ever realized that I looked noticably different to some people was fairly late in my not so long life.  The first time I went to SK. to see Jared and meet ALLLL his cousins, baby Bryden was sitting on my lap and took his hands and tried to rub all the “dirt” off of my face.  It hit me then how unusual I must look to this adorable little boy who hadn’t really ever seen freckles before!  So funny.

Thumbing through magazines and seeing these flawless skinned, beautiful people brought me to the conclusion recently that people must not see freckles as “beauty,” you never see freckled people in magizines or on tv!  However, I have made peace w/ my dear freckles a looong time ago and I feel like I’d be pretty boring looking w/ out them!  It is just so funny to me that what is so normal to me is actually not so “normal” to our society at all.  Oh well…I love my freckles anyway!

Mouths of Babes…

Posted in Life in General on September 8, 2007 by juliepetersen

Out of the mouths of babes often times come some of the most truthful little phrases.  As I was waiting in line to make a purchase, the sweet little four year old boy in front of me sweetly and innocently asked the fe(Male)  checking out their purchases, “Are you a girl???”  To which she replied, “Yes, I just really like short hair.”

Oh my.

Ahhhh…

Dear Pillow,

I am home, I missed you and your firm but squishy softness.  I will NEVER leave you for four weeks ever again.

Love,

me

Internet!!!

Whew…more than a week without internet access seems like a long time~ however, it is nice to be somewhere where I can quickly look into all of my dear friends lives again and see what they are up to.  I have had a wonderful vacation, we’ve been really busy helping my aunt get grandma ready to move to SD and have been intertaining LOADS of company coming by to say goodbye before she leaves tomorrow.  Sunday was her last Sunday morning meeting, and last night was the last meeting ever at her house, so I am so very glad that I did come.  At first I was hesitant to come because I thought ten days away from Jared and him away from Peyton would just be too long.  I am just really glad that I am here.  Grandma’s surgery went quite well, but we have found out that she also has lukemia, there won’t be any radiation or chemo as she is 96 in August.

I am currently at the Nelson’s…Monica, Mark, Danny, and Ross would have the most memories here, but there are many more who got to know Shelena when she came to Oklahoma.  Trent, Sandra and their family all send the warmest greetings to those of you who know them.

Tuesday night ended up with some unwanted action…I was sound asleep and mom comes in my room to tell me that she is taking Dad to the hospital because he is having shortness of breath and chest pains.  He was admitted for the night because he was having PVC’s (extra heart beats) but by the morning he was ok and the echocardiogram showed everything was alright.  Dad’s disease is a muscle disease and the heart is our most important muscle so it is important for him to not ignore any symptom, dad’s dad also died of a massive heart attack…so, it was scary.

Anyway, sorry this wasn’t the most intertaining thing you have ever read, but I just wanted to update friends and family and let you all know what was going on.  See most of you soon.
